Hi there! Just want to share with you photos of my son in pirate costume 'handcrafted' by me. I got some good ideas from the internet and combined those that I like before starting on the project.
The hat was made of foam paper and the skeleton was actually printed on a piece of white paper. Fussy cut it and glued onto the front with added rhinestones on both the eyes. This hat was hand-stitched. No machine stitching was involved here. So, I guess, you can imagine how panicked I was when the party was just in about a week's time! Oh btw, there was also a letter F in rhinestones at the back of the hat. Sorry, no photo on that.
The suit/dress was velvety (what else do you call it?) and I kinda took a short-cut (LOL!) to make it. I simply just traced my son's t-shirt on the fabric and just cut and sew it together. I have used thick black thread to piece them all together and later added gold lining/ribbon on the edge. Again, no machine stitching was involved.
On to the belt! I have used that foam paper again and cut it into a square and cut out another smaller square leaving a band of foam paper right in the middle. Hope you understand what I'm talking about. LOL!
This was just to secure the black belt (cloth /felt type), which was then tied around and fastened onto it.
You can add whatever accessories you wish to add to suit your requirements. This was enough for me. Fhew!
